Tec Basics Course

Consists of two knowledge development segments, one practical application and two no stop dives.

Tec Basics is a multi-use course that focuses on orientation to new dive equipment, technical diving skills, and techniques. It is an optional level that can help divers explore new equipment configurations and refine their foundational skills before moving on to Tec 40 Diver.

The PADI Tec Basics course consists of two knowledge development sections, one practical application session and two training dives. You'll learn about:

• Technical diving equipment, proper rigging and setup.
• Trim, positioning and propulsion techniques.
• Team diving techniques and emergency procedures to deal with free flows and out of gas situations.

PADI eLearning® on your own, from the comfort of your home, read, watch videos, and take quizzes at your own pace to develop knowledge of scuba rescue procedures, before you work with one of our PADI Instructors. 

Complete 2 open water dives are required to complete the PADI Tec Basics course, with Go Dive training.

These dives usually take place over single day at the weekend. 

During the Tec Basics course you will learn:

• Equipment assembly.
• Team checks.
• Remove and replace deco cylinder.
• Gas shutdown drills.
• NO TOX switch.
• Out of gas procedures.
• Simulated deco stop.
• Diving with 1 deco cylinder.

As well as these dives being an opportunity for you to show your instructor your mastery of the skills and procedures, you will also gain more experience diving as a team. 

On successful completion of these dives, you will be a PADI Tec Basics.

You will need to have your own equipment .

To enroll in the Tec 50 course, you must meet these qualifications:

• PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and PADI Rescue Diver recommended
• PADI Enriched Air Diver
• 15 years old
